Abstract

© 31st Congress of the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences, ICAS 2018. All rights reserved.Flight simulation of flexible aircraft is computationally expensive. This paper presents an approach based on reduced-order models for computational cost reduction of the aeroelastic equations. The model order reduction technique, the X-HALE aircraft and a low computational cost model are described. Finally, simulation time histories are presented comparing time responses and computational costs. Numerical results show good agreement between full-order and reduced-order models, with the latter presenting a significant reduction in computational time.
