Abstract
The Study of Movements and Times (SMT), developed by Frederick Taylor, aims to measure the ideal amount of work that a worker can perform in an eight-hour shift, executing activities at a normal pace. The detailed analysis of tasks makes it possible to identify unnecessary movements while optimizing and integrating productive actions, resulting in time and labor savings. This study aims to apply the principles of SMT to the cable manufacturing process of an aircraft assembly company that has recently diversified its production by incorporating ground radars for defense and security. The research involves identifying all the stages in the cable assembly process, followed by time analysis to define the standard times for each phase. Based on the frequency and duration of each operation, it becomes possible to calculate the total time required to manufacture a single cable and, subsequently, the entire radar cabling system. The study allows for a more accurate estimation of team productivity and labor costs. Thus, the application of the proposed method contributes not only to improving operational efficiency but also to supporting strategic decision-making within the company, considering aspects such as team sizing, delivery deadlines, and the economic feasibility of production.
